I already learned more after 12 lessons, than with my old mandarin book with all kinds of useless difficulties.

I like to practice the games, to get really good at it.

Again, the daily use is amazing.

👇Do you feel this way?

  • You studied Chinese before, but freeze up in real conversations.
  • You love Taiwan (or someone from Taiwan), but can’t express your feelings because of the language barrier.
  • You’ve tried YouTube, apps, or textbooks, but they only teach words nobody in Taiwan actually says.
  • You’re juggling work, family, and life — and never seem to have enough time to really study Mandarin.
  • You feel anxious every time you open your mouth: “Will they understand me? Or will I just embarrass myself?”

If this sounds like you, you’re not alone.
The good news is: you don’t need to struggle anymore.

I have to confess...

Many years ago, I only taught exactly what the textbooks said.

One day, a student quietly asked: “But… my Taiwanese friends never say it like that. Why?”

That moment changed EVERYTHING—I knew I had to teach the real Mandarin people actually speak in Taiwan. There’s no point in teaching Mandarin that’s good for exams but doesn’t help build relationships.

I see you...

  • I see you have been finding useful materials from Taiwan for a long time.
  • I know you freeze up and panic while trying to navigate new situations alone.
  • I know you really want to talk to people, but when the chance came, you always lack words...
  • I understand the frustration of looking at your partner's family, you love them so much, but you can't express it because of the language barrier.
  • When you just want to have a small conversation with people, you find out that none of the content that you learned in the past were helpful...
  • I know you have tried to learn Chinese by yourself here and there, now you feel it's time to really dive deeper and build up solid ability to express yourself in Chinese.

But here comes the problem…

It’s almost impossible to find materials that teach 100% authentic Taiwanese Mandarin.

Most textbooks focus on formal, “standard” language more suited to China than Taiwan. And here’s the dark secret: if you don’t teach that way, people will question your professionalism. But I’ve got nothing to lose—I care more about helping my students speak real Taiwanese Mandarin than following the rules.

Easy Peasy Taiwanese Mandarin

A whole new approach to learning:
I’ve created my own collection of materials that students at university language centers said are 1,000 times more useful than what they’ve learned before!

Learn Mandarin through Taiwan’s amazing culture
Taiwan has incredible people, fascinating customs, and delicious food. Why not integrate all of that into your learning? Language becomes so much more exciting when it’s part of real life.

Forget boring, textbook-style lessons
No more “Lesson 1: My name is…” or “Lesson 2: There are 5 people in my family.”
Instead, you’ll learn phrases and questions Taiwanese people actually use, how to make friends, express your feelings, and navigate real-life situations—all while enjoying the process!

Step 1
bopomofo & pinyin

In the first phase, you will learn pronunciation and tones. I will teach you how to pronounce words like a Taiwanese.

I teach two spelling systems: Bopomofo (Zhuyin) and Pinyin. Bopomofo is a spelling system used exclusively in Taiwan (most courses only teach Pinyin). Taiwanese people grow up learning Bopomofo in school, not Pinyin. Unless you are a Chinese teacher, almost no Taiwanese know the Pinyin system (which is used in schools in China).

Pinyin is easy to learn, but it has many disadvantages in terms of pronunciation accuracy. You won't have this problem with Bopomofo because its characters look nothing like the English alphabet.

Taiwanese people use this system to type characters on phones and computers. If you know Bopomofo, you can even read children's books on your own. Knowing Bopomofo means you are already halfway to being a Taiwanese!

Tones can be tricky, but don't worry! We have a series of videos that use easy and fun activities to train your tones.

Step 2
Speaking ability building

Short lessons from 5-10 minutes per day, 5-6 lessons per week! Fits perfectly into your daily routine!

Based on my teaching experience, I know extremely well what are the essential sentence structures that you need to know in order to develop the ability to express yourself and engage in meaningful conversations with Taiwanese people. You are going to learn super useful sentence structures and concepts in the phase.

Step 3

Life scenarios Chinese

We will apply everything we learned in phase two to real-life situations, such as social events, going to restaurants, ordering bubble tea, taking taxis, and visiting doctors. These topics will truly benefit your life in Taiwan.

Mini vlogs

In some lessons, I include mini vlogs to show you what life is like in Taiwan and share fun cultural facts. By watching these vlogs, you will not only learn Chinese, but also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in natural Chinese language flow. The best part is, as you progress through the course, you will be surprised at how much you can understand when watching the vlogs. This is a great way to track your progress!

This course has helped hundreds of students learn authentic Taiwanese Mandarin!

This course has helped me hugely in my day-to-day life in Taiwan. Teacher Cecilia teaches specific, practical vocabulary that helped me decipher my surroundings more -- for example, the Chinese names of popular supermarkets and restaurants, the questions that store clerks, waiters and receptionists typically ask, and how to answer. I use all of this knowledge every day, and I really feel that Teacher Cecilia cluing me in was a lifesaver -- before this class, I would freeze up and panic while trying to navigate new situations alone.

Amber Kennedy, Scotland

Cecilia's course was extremely helpful and provided a great foundation for my Chinese. Her explanations of grammar concepts are clear and easy to understand, and her focus on Chinese that you'll actually hear and be able to use in daily life is spot-on. This course is thoughtfully planned and well-executed, I highly recommend it!

Marie, Philippines

This course has provided me a really great foundation for being able to speak and understand Chinese in Taiwan. The vocabulary and grammar covered are all helpful and I often recognize things from class in my daily life.

Dante Schneider, USA

As a qualified language teacher, I was very picky and wanted a professional teacher who understood how to build language skills from a low level.

I was very pleased to see many of the methods and practices I was taught in my education degree present in her lessons. Perhaps most importantly, she created a comfortable environment to practice with logical, tailored progression.

Her explanations helped me understand how mandarin differs from English and other languages I have previously studied, as well as the unique aspects of how the language is used in Taiwan.

I would wholeheartedly recommend her classes to anyone looking to learn mandarin.

This course is really great 👍👏🏻 All in All You are a great Teacher I am so lucky that I am one of your students...Thank you so much. One day I will make you proud🙏🏻😇Jha manalo, Phillipines

I have had an intensive course in Taiwan for about a week. Using A course in Contemporary Chinese. And did use some apps. And used to make some flash cards. After the class i tried to speak with my family in law, nevertheless, they didn't understand anything of it. And study at home with the book was also not possible, because afterwards everything is with Chinese characters and I feel i had to learn 3 languages at one time (Pinyin, Zhuyin, characters translate to English). So that was quite overwhelming.

With the current course (Easy peasy Taiwain) I already used some sentences, and it seems to be more natural sentences, which people use. I stopped using Ni hao continuously, because with your explanation I understand why my family did not say that to me haha.

When I am with friends, I can understand them better because the words I am learning are quite often used.

Meet your rebellious teacher Cecilia

I refer to myself as a "rebellious" teacher because it is my nature as a person, not just as an educator.

I have always been averse to traditional education, even advocating for homeschooling when I was only an elementary student. The rigid school system and learning style didn't cater to my creativity! And we were learning a lot of things that the professional educators think that’s what we need! We took it all and never question why?

Now I am a teacher, I don't teach what the traditional mandarin education system think what we ''need to teach'' anymore!

In my teaching, I prioritize what's useful and applicable to my students' everyday lives in Taiwan, rather than rigidly sticking to textbooks or formal language. This includes teaching colloquial phrases, I even curse words!

I don't categorize myself as the typical ''professional'' teacher! And I don't care how other people are gonna see me :)

If you are looking for new style of learning! I am here for you!

I was interviewed by Los Angeles Times

I was happy to contribute some knowledge in an article talking about the difference between Taiwanese Mandarin & Chinese Mandarin! And they show my video on their site :)

Common Q & A

Q: Is this a live class?
A: No, it is a pre-recorded video course. However, you are welcome to ask me any questions related to the course. Simply leave a comment under the lesson, I will reply to you ASAP.

Q: How long is this course?

A: About 18 hours. I divided this course into 26 weeks, but you can always adjust it base on your learning speed.

Q: How long do I have the access to this course?

A: Lifetime access.

Q: Can I get a certificate after finishing this course?

A: Yes, you can.

Q: I’ve learned Simplified Chinese and China-style Mandarin before. Now I want to transition to Taiwanese Mandarin—am I suitable for this course?

A: Absolutely! Taiwanese Mandarin and China-style Mandarin have significant differences—in accents, pronunciation, and even the words people use. Even if you already know Chinese, I recommend starting from the beginning using Taiwanese methods. This way, you’ll build a solid foundation and be able to communicate naturally with locals.

Q: Do you teach characters in this course?

A: I don’t teach character here since this is a speaking focus course. However, you can immerse yourself with the content first (I will show characters along with pinyin or Zhuyin) and after finishing this course, you can join my character course so it’s not overwhelming:)

From Learning Mandarin to Living It

Your Taiwanese Mandarin Journey Starts Here

Imagine stepping into a cozy Taiwanese breakfast shop. You confidently order your meal, chat with the aunty behind the counter, and start your day with a smile. Later, you join your Taiwanese friends or your partner’s family, and they look at you with delight: “Wow! You’ve made so much progress in Chinese!” No more rehearsing conversations a hundred times in your head—you can simply enjoy the moment and connect with people naturally.

You’re not just getting “a course.” You’re opening the door to deeper relationships, richer life experiences, and the joy of truly belonging in Taiwanese communities. You’ll gain confidence, create precious memories with your loved ones, and savor every moment of connecting with people in Taiwan.

I LOVE the presentation of this course.

The videos are not too long but they are full of helpful information.

I had no Chinese experience. You were my first Chinese teacher. Now I can follow simple conversations in Mandarin when I’m watching movies with Mandarin speakers in it.

I love the presenter. Of course the teacher’s personality and presentation plays a big role in convincing students to struggle through the material.

I love whenever you discuss Taiwanese culture too.

If you are reading this and still on the fence, take the plunge because Mandarin is not as impossible to learn as English speakers may think.

Cecilia's class showed me that learning Mandarin is very much possible… but also fun!
